Blake Law School
Western New England College
The addition and renovations to the School of Law at Western New England College includes a major renovation of the existing building and 10,000 s.f. of new construction giving the school a relocated entrance which faces the main part of campus and allows the school to be more easily identified and accessed from other campus buildings. To enhance the cohesiveness of the overall campus plan, exterior materials and building forms were selected to complement the aesthetic of the existing law school and to relate to building design elements that are present in adjacent college facilities.
The project includes new space for administration, lobby and main entrance activities arranged to improve public access to admissions, the office of the Dean and other departments while allowing appropriate separation between the more public support areas and the educationally related classroom, student and library functions.
The new addition allows for the reorganization of existing space within the building including expanded library areas for a new circulation desk, relocated to the first floor, adjacent to a technology enhanced research zone and an enlarged and more accessible Massachusetts law collection. Also included are new seminar classrooms, a new law and business center and enhanced student activity space with wireless connectivity that supports student bar association work, the law school newspaper, law review/moot court preparation and casual study needs.
